How To Survive As A Reality Television Family
After five years on The Real Housewives of New Jersey , Caroline Manzo and her family are continuing their on-camera lives with their spin-off Manzo’d With Children . Now reality veterans, they reflect on how to stay real in the world of “reality.”
Bravo / John Gara for BuzzFeed
On an October Monday afternoon at Little Town, New Jersey, a restaurant venture from Albie and Chris Manzo on Sinatra Street in Hoboken, the Manzo family, of The Real Housewives of New Jersey-fame, is gathered around a table. With an array of appetizers spread before them, the conversation flows freely. It could be any Manzo family gathering — minus Al Sr., who is working at the Brownstone in Paterson, plus two Bravo publicists and me.
With a little encouragement, they take a break from typical lunch chatter and are reading hate-tweets aloud.
"'Lauren Manzo, you're a bitch,'" middle Manzo offspring Lauren says. She searches through the at-replies on her phone for a more exciting example of the kind of ire she receives regularly on Twitter, particularly after a new episode of Manzo'd With Children airs on Sunday nights.
She stumbles on a gem and laughs, reading the approximately 100-character jab: "'Lauren Manzo is such an effing C, jaded from all those fat years. I thought fat people were jolly.'"
Lauren wasn't editing the vicious words from an anonymous account; the viewer was actually thoughtful enough to censor the words "fucking" and "c*nt" in the midst of spewing hate at a stranger.
None of this is new for the Manzos, but now, they're receiving a little extra attention. Caroline, who spent five seasons on RHONJ before jumping ship; her husband, Al; and their adult children, in birth order, Albie, Lauren, and Chris, are wrapping up their own spin-off, Manzo'd With Children.
"I will never understand," Chris says. "Nobody has ever pissed me off so bad that I'm like, in 140 characters I'm gonna tell them everything I possibly had."
Nodding, Lauren adds, "I watch certain reality shows and there's people that I'm like, Oh my god, I cannot stand her. But I would never not like anyone enough to literally write the most horrible things to them."
Caroline concludes, "That's why you can't take it serious."
There is an oddly zenlike quality to all of this. The ability to shrug off punches must be learned because it's hard not to bristle at the insults flung at the Manzos, whether you're one of them or not. Throughout lunch, they are laid-back and overwhelmingly practical about their lives as members of a reality show family. Albie likens Manzo'd With Children to grad school, a "more intense version of things" after the college experience of Real Housewives. And they're happy to offer a crash course on how to survive reality television.

32 Questions For Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.
Detroit’s spry indie pop tag-team on their love of Boyz II Men, farting on the tour bus, and the integrity of extraterrestrials.
Josh (on the left) holding the adorable band dog Potato, and Daniel hang outside the BuzzFeed LA offices.
Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed
If you're not yet familiar with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., you're in luck: allow us to introduce you to their immensely pleasurable latest single "James Dean," a wistfully melancholic synth-pop gem that extends an impressive run of catchy tunes since the band first began in 2010. Daniel Zott and Josh Epstein are the two guys behind the band (no relation to the NASCAR hero), and they stopped by BuzzFeed LA to play some music and answer some very ~important~ questions. This is what we learned.
1. How did you guys come up with the name of the band?
Josh: We were both in different bands before this, and we wanted to come up with a name that was so ridiculous that we could do anything we want, musically. This was around the time where every band's name was called Crystal something, or Neon something, and we were talking about how much of a hindrance it is to bands, like changing their sound. Because once you have a sound and you sound like something, then it kind of sticks. So then this band became the band that we were in, and now we have the dumbest name in the world.
2. Your new song "James Dean" talks about how cool he is; who else is super cool to you?
Josh: Thom Yorke is like the nerdiest, coolest guy in the world. We always talk about this: It must be hard to be Radiohead, because you are the coolest thing in the world, the band at least, and then to have a normal day, if nothing you do is cool during the day, it's like, oh. I imagine everything he does is cool.
Daniel: People would not want to buy his records if they saw him walking through McDonald's.
3. Favorite music video?
Josh: I'm really showing my age here, but "Thriller."
Daniel: Yeah, it's a pretty typical answer, but nothing really beats that.
4. First album you ever bought?
Daniel: Boyz II Men Cooleyhighharmony.
Josh: I want to say Pearl Jam Ten.
5. Last show you went to?
Daniel: Katy Perry, Prismatic Tour.
Josh: He went in Detroit, and I actually went to the one in LA. But last I went to see this band called Mosco Rosco.
6. What song would you pick to play as your entrance music?
Josh: I would go "Regulator."
7. Favorite word?
Josh: I know what Dan's favorite word is. "Asinine."
Daniel: My dad used to say it.
8. Favorite curse word?
Josh: I'm going to be controversial and say "c*nt."
Daniel: I hate that word.
Josh: I know, but it's got a special power, more than any other word. You can call someone anything and it won't really offend them, but if you call someone a c*nt, that's like a real thing.
Daniel: Shit.
9. Favorite vegetable?
Josh: Eggplant
Daniel: I was going to say eggplant.
10. What do you normally eat for breakfast?
Josh: Every morning I have the exact same thing. I cook some onions, bacon, chopped up with some curry paste, then I add peppers, eggs, and cheese. So I have a little curried bacon scramble.
Daniel: I do a lot of scrambled eggs, with my own hash browns. I keep it plain.
11. Favorite emoji?
Daniel: I don't really have a favorite, but I think the last one I sent is that dancing marimba girl.
Josh: I'm next level with emojis. I actually now have this thing where I have emojis of my own face and I'll send those to people.

19 Celebrity Fashion Lines You Totally Forgot About
They can’t all be Jessica Simpson.
Mblem by Mandy Moore
Post-pop Moore launched this line of knitwear aimed at taller ladies in 2005. At the time, Moore told the AP she could never find T-shirts long enough for her 5'10" frame. Apparently there wasn't a big enough demand for the high-end knits ($50 and up) — the line shuttered after four years, despite being in most major department stores. Moore suggested some behind-the-scenes drama forced her to shut down the line, saying she would love to return to fashion if she had "a great partnership that could represent a true reflection of me and my ideas." Five years later, Moore has yet to make a clothing comeback.

Fetish by Eve
The rapper created Fetish at the height of her fame in 2003, the same year her eponymous UPN sitcom premiered. The "sexed-up urban wear line" featured bold logos and prints, including ones inspired by Eve's infamous paw print tattoos. While successful at department stores around the country, the line ran into licensing issues and was shut down a few years later. Eve relaunched the brand in 2008 with more upscale, logo-free apparel, but the new look lasted less than a year. Fetish folded for good in 2009. Eve told BET in 2013 she had no plans to revive the brand, adding that it never really represented her.

Paris Hilton for Dollhouse
After The Simple Life ended in 2007, Hilton took her talents to the fashion world, with this short-lived denim and casuals line for Dollhouse. The line, which featured T-shirts plastered with Hilton's face, was sold at one-time celebrity hotspot Kitson, as well as Nordstrom and Macy's. It lasted less than a year, but Hilton went on to launch an accessories line that's proven popular across Asia.

FuMan Skeeto by Chris Kirkpatrick
Because if you had to get style advice from a member of NSYNC, you'd pick Chris Kirkpatrick. No? That might explain why this "casual line of urban-inspired women's streetwear with an Asian influence" lasted just three years. The line, surprisingly sold in high-end department stores, disappeared in 2002 — the same year NSYNC disbanded. And, as for the name? It apparently came to Kirkpatrick when "a mosquito landed on one of his lopped-off braids, making him think the mosquito had a [Fu Manchu mustache]." Yeah.

Taylor Swift's Comments On Feminism And Being Single Are Just Perfect
“Life can be romantic without having a romance . I’m attracted to how happy I am right now.”
Just when we thought Taylor Swift couldn't get any more perfect, she's gone and made the most amazing comments about feminism and relationships.

Speaking to the new issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, Taylor revealed that she and her friends often talk about the inequality between men and women.
She said: "My girlfriends and I talk a lot about feminism and the inequality between the way men and women are talked about. The kind of things we say are: "Why is it mischievous, fun and sexy if a guy has a string of lovers that he's cast aside; loved and left?"
"Yet, if a woman dates three or four people in an eight-year period, she is a serial dater and it gives some 12-year-old the idea to call her a "slut" on the internet? It's not the same for boys. It just isn't, and that's a fact."

Swift said: "Her perspective has truly shaped me in the past couple of years. She is just so enthusiastic about life, about other women. She is like a hug in the form of a person."

Lena Dunham Had Her Famous Friends Model For Planned Parenthood
With a special tee shirt she designed. That you can buy, too.
Lena Dunham is on tour right now to promote her new book, Not That Kind of Girl and she's teamed up with Planned Parenthood to produce a special tee shirt for the occasion.
Lena's an outspoken pro-choice advocate—here she is supporting Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis earlier this month. So it totally makes sense that she'd create a "Lena Loves Planned Parenthood" tee.
All proceeds from the tee go to support the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, which is the political arm of PP. The shirts will help the Action Fund's Women Are Watching campaign.
And to promote it, she got her famous friends to model the shirt. You know, like America Ferrera.

Amy Poehler Wrote The Sweetest Note To A "Parks & Rec" Superfan
“All I’ve ever wanted was to move out of the small town I was born into and find happiness,” the Parks & Rec fan told BuzzFeed. “If Leslie Knope says it’s possible then who am I to argue?”
You probably already feel like you couldn't love Amy Poehler more. She is the one true Queen Of Everything.
One of the many things the comedic genius is known for is giving great advice. She runs the site Smart Girls at the Party and gives thousands of girls heartfelt and important wisdom through her series "Ask Amy."
During the AMA, one fan opened up to her, saying that he lived in a "small town full of idiots" and he used to always feel "alone and like a failure."
Then he discovered Parks and Recreation. It changed his life. The man said the show "fully turned my year around," and that the it had a "profound effect on me." Since it was an AMA ("Ask Me Anything") the Redditor also threw in a question: What's your favorite kind of waffle?
