Jennifer Lawrence, Victoria Justice, Others Victims Of More Alleged Leaks, Apple Denies Breach

The leak appears to have originated on 4chan’s /b/ board. This post is SFW. Update : On Tuesday, Apple announced that the hack was due to a “very targeted attack” of certain celebrities, and denied it was a breach in their systems.

A leak that started as the latest round of personal pictures hacked from celebrities' phones turned Monday into a vast invasion of the privacy of actress Jennifer Lawrence and a handful of others — and a kind of festival on Reddit, 4chan, and other online spaces — with continued releases of pictures and video purporting to be taken from stars including Lawrence, Kate Upton, Lea Michele, and more.

On Tuesday, Apple said they found no systems breach related to the celebrity picture leak.

"After more than 40 hours of investigation, we have discovered that certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the Internet," they said in a statement. "None of the cases we have investigated have resulted from any breach in any of Apple's systems including iCloud or Find my iPhone. We are continuing to work with law enforcement to help identify the criminals involved."

In a statement to CNN, the FBI has said they are "addressing the matter." "The FBI is aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high profile individuals, and is addressing the matter," FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said Monday. "Any further comment would be inappropriate at this time."
